Common Test

The official final official final results and position placing for the JC2 common test is out today. And I'm didn't fare that badly I guess, rank 51st out of 803. However, as Phoebe pointed out, THIS is SRJC, so making top 50 shouldn't be all that difficult(for a Victorian). Okok, perhaps thats a tad too degrading of SRJC, but indeed i personally agree that I should be doing much better than this. Yes, it may be a "good" result, but not by my own personal standard. Call me overly-demanding, call me "too full of myself", it is my own opinion anyhow and i failed.

This however has made me realise that I can indeed achieve much better grades though as i know personally that I have not achieved my maximum potential yet. Haha, so it's not too bad after all in that it's now a motivation for me to work even harder for the 2nd common test. Gonna pwn it man!

Integration

I'm a happy man tonight. Yes i really am. Why..? Cos I can actually do my integration tutorial. LOL Ok, that might not be a big deal to most people out there. But to me, the one who had never got a satisfactory grade for A math in secondary school and now C math in JC, this is really a breakthrough for the mathematic realm. No doubt i had problems getting the solutions for a couple of questions here and there but thanks to Jackie, i managed to correct them. BUT i really gotta be more mindful about my carelessness. Forgot to put in the additional 3 from chain rule for 1 problem and forgot to use my calculator in radian mode for another problem. The result? I wasted a total of 30 mins trying to figure where the hell i gone wrong. Bleah.

Ok, now i do believe in the phrase "Practise makes perfect." Ever since the plunge of my mathematics grades in secondary grade, never thought that i could ever begin to understand it all over again. It was terrible for Vectors and Differentiation as well, so I didn't really expect to be any better at Integration. But wow, just a couple hours of dedication by sitting down and reading the notes and actually attempting the tutorial actually opened up Integration to me. Of course, i wouldn't say I'm an Integration god now, but at least the Integration section on my paper wouldn't be blank. Just for your info, I got 2/10 for an open-book test on Vectors. THAT, is how bad I was at math.

Ok nuff said, gotta go study up the "ideal" answers for Bio SPA skill C/D for tomorrow. Already have a pretty good idea what's coming out but hey, it doesn't hurt to do a little memory work eh? (:

Danceworks 2006

Woke up at 7am today, was supposed to meet Humphrey at 8 for tennis. But i turned off the alarm and went back to sleep for another "5 mins". Woke up again and the clock said 9am. -_- Quickly called Humphrey but he was still at home too LOL guess he woke up late as well. Anyways, met him at his place and made our way to VS to play.

After tennis, decided to go down to Marina Square to watch the Danceworks 2006 competition.(HEY, i really love dance okaaaaay.) Funnily, there seemed to be alot of SRJC-ians down there. It's only later on did i realise that the SRJC Dance Society took part in it too, but yet I didn't see their performance, guess i missed their performance, and I was like only 15 mins late. Lol, how lucky is that? Humphrey wanted to meet me later on and he was supposed to be there at 1pm, but he arrived at 4pm. Gee, talk about only girls being able to be up to 2 hours late, he certainly smashed THAT record.

Hung out with him at the Marina arcade for a good part of the late afternoon and spent some money on pool and arcade gaming. Met Jinyi too, and gosh, her hairstyle was so totally wicked. D: Left the place at about 6.30 and took 36 to Parkway Parade. Walked around that place for abit, grabbed some food along the way and left for home.

Been feeling rather sick for the later part of the outing. Hope it doesnt blow up into a full-grown sickness. Gosh.

Some stuff Humphrey said made me wish I could relive my life from secondary school up. Some stuff which i really loved in the past were dancing, tennis to name a few. Of course, I still like them, but because of computer games... Yes, computer games ruined my life, at least the way I see it. The addiction to them really kills. Wished I was never introduced to LAN gaming in P6. So what if you're a Counterstrike "god" or a Warcraft 3 elite? These "titles" only hold for as long as the game exists in the community. In exchange for these, i screwed up my studies as well as health. Till today, I can't believe I spent close to 5 days/week playing LAN in my secondary school hols. Imagine all that moolah spent, all that time wasted, all that fast food consumed, no wonder my holiday homework could never be completed even when there's like so little, and also that i "upsized" 30kg from Secondary 2 to Secondary 4.

After that came the inferiority complex and the confidence killer. After all, VS is an elite school, so it's definitely no problem finding any Tom, Dick or Harry who would probably be either physically or intellectually better than me, or even both. Therefore the result? I became THE outcast, i shrunk from the class. My friends were far and few, and even then only just slightly better then "hi-and-bye" friends. The regret.. too late.. Didn't try out for tennis trials as i feared rejection. Didn't even consider dance. My point? Chuck those computer games out of the window! NOW.

Ok, hydroxy assignment now. D:

Introvert-ism

Yep, its the weekend here again, with double the homework, double the restlessness and half the thrill. This week's been pretty busy with all sorts of deadlines and whatnots. There's the Chemistry re-test on Friday(which was pointless in my opinion) as well as pressure from Science Club teachers to get the noticeboard up and running. Of course, there's that constant need to complete the tutorials. There's also loads of form-signing too, ASPIRE edusave form... Science Club Astronomy Camp form as well as the TEC facilitator form. Well, that just about sums up the week.

Realised that I'm becoming more and more of an anti-social-ist lately. Didn't really maximise interaction with my classmates which are ever so fun cos I just wasn't in the socialisation mood. Not to mention that my moolah supplies these week seem to be rather short as it was time to re-stock on transport fees( i.e. EZ link value + electronic pass). Also watched Final Destination 3 with the class(well, part of) and it was a good enough show i guess, though a little too gory for my taste. Besides that, haven't really hung out much with them. AND this is the 2nd Saturday in a row that I've spent doing work at home.

To tell the truth, there's this hate in me which i can't fathom. It's causing me to snap back at people who's concerned, genuine or otherwise and to withdraw even further into my protective shell. Though unfathomable, I do know what it draws upon, that is, it seems to generate from seeing people with friends, happiness and bliss and i do relish the satisfaction of seeing unhappiness but don't get me wrong, i dun cause it by far possible. Just tread lightly and u might pass me safely by.

One comment I've simply got to make it is about that NYP scandal video. Right, I know everyone under the sun's talked about it already but having watched approximately 1 min of the 2-part 14 minute video, all I've gotta say is that I'm disappointed that there are guys out there actually wanking to it. Yup, no comments about the "producers". AND do not ask me for it as I've already removed all traces of it from my harddrive.

Ok thats alot I've said, way more then an introvert should. What's with wanking whiners and such, bah, wat a horrible weekend.

Something from the past..

Was packing out some old drawers.. found one of the old items that i made last time. For the benefit of those who can't see, its saga seeds + stars in a bottle. I think there's 999 seeds and 50 stars(yes i picked them and folded them myself). Hmm, i can't remember the point of making this. O well, glad to find it again. Lol.

Weekends

Yes, the weekends are here once again and its time again to reflect on the week's happenings. Much things has happened. For starters, there's the returning of our Common Test exam scripts in which i fared a tad unsatisfactory to tell the truth.

Mathematics C - A
Physics - B
Chemistry - AO
Biology - C

Ironically, I got the best grade for Mathematics when I've been lamenting about how horrible my mathematic was. Physics and Biology were better then I've expected. Honestly. Chemistry was simply a disaster, and now I gotta like what.. take a re-test. Damn it, gotta restudy all that nonsense.

Grades apart, this week been pretty pleasant i guess. Didn't get into any major trouble with teachers regarding homework or whatnots. Signed up to take part in Team Excellence Camp 2006 (TEC) which is the best i could do, after the pang of regret for not taking part in Pre-U seminar 2006. Then there was the commencement of P.E module too, in which I've chosen Tennis and got in too. Ah, the joy of finally getting to play tennis again! My racket is seriously collecting dust, but it can't be help since I really can't find a place nor people to play with me.

Then there's the Science Club meet on Friday. Randy and Nicholas presented some tsunami stuffs and it was pretty educational i guess. We also had fun yesterday, sharing the goodies that Mrs Lim brought hahx. Both the S3 and S30 gals were pretty fun, though I might have been a tad too mean. =x Teaming with Jackie for the presentation session, most probably doing on the topic of nebulaes, but then, our "slot" is not coming just yet, so there's no rush (:

Anyhow, the weekends so far been really boring. Didn't step out of the house much. Friday night was spent doing Chemistry and some Integration. Slept late too and couldn't get up for G.P lecture in school next morning LOL. Woke up on Sat at like 9.45am which was like exactly when the lecture ended LOL Spent the whole of Saturday playing a little computer games, more homework, some math revision and sleeping. Sigh, what a no-life-er.

Motivated..

Shan't talk about yesterday, its just Valentine's Day, nothing much happened anyways. Except racking up a considerable huge bill at Swensen's.

Today was a pretty short day, just some lectures, one physics tutorial and the day was over. Had to attend some health talk by the P.E departement(Yea, go ahead and laugh. >.>") and it was really inspirational i had to say. Had 2 teachers recount their experiences from being obese to their current healthy fit states. To cut a long talk short, the key is RUNNING. Yup. Suddenly my ideal weight seems all tt possible... Gonna start running regularly too. Mind I run last time too, just that i didn't really have much faith in that, but i guess i change my mind now. Starting tomorrow...

can't believe even after knowing her for so long.. i still can't muster the courage to talk face to face.. Bah, someone just shoot me...

Valentine's Day

Yup, its coming, love it or hate it. That time of the year is coming. Gonna spend it revising my mathematics, cool huh?

Saw this Valentine letter.. it goes.. "You know what i am, ________(insert the girl's name!), I am your teardrop, i was concieved in your heart, i was born in your eyes, i live on your cheeks and i will die, on your lips. Signed, Your Valentine."

Now tell me tt isnt romantic.

Hydroxy Compounds

-OH function group. Well, been consuming alot of hydroxy compounds recently i realised. First Friday, now today. Went out with Justine and Raymond juz a few hours ago, met them near Justine's place for dinner. Finally realised how nice it is to not buy your own food and steal from other people D: (Thank you Tine~!)

There was this firework display halfway during dinner, directly over the food centre, then Justine and Raymond just run off to watch, leaving the food unattended. Justine even left her keys there too. But I not interested, so just sat there and waited for them to come back. Lol. Justine throughout kept trying to force me to talk about my blunder. *zips*

Anyways, after dinner, went to 7-11 to buy alcohol. Techinically we were of age, yet not exactly, but well, the cashier didn't check, so who cares! D: Bought 2 bottles of vodka stuff, one grapefruit flavoured and another berry flavoured(yes, we declared that both tasted like fruit juice). After making purchases, went to Tingz block and sat there to drink and chat, and Tingz came down to join us too. Talked bout loads of dumb stuff, drank loads of hydroxy compounds, took some dumb photos and even contemplated exchanging phones for awhile -_-"

Well, left at about 10 since still got chemistry homework to do sigh. Badly needed to use the loo, Lol.

Linkies

Been up since 8 doing out these cute buttons thingy for my links. Its time-consuming, so don't expect to see your buttons right away, I'm doing them at random hehx. Anyways, I'm still waiting for someone to come online so i can grab fonts from her as well as ask her some stuff XD

Oh well, done 3 so far but most probably will edit them, especially about the fonts. Gonna go get breakfast now. Ciao~!

Exams: Aftermath

Common test week is finally over. The past few days been pretty crazy, apart from the euphoria of finally clearing the last test, there's Thursday class outing and Friday's class outing.

Last papers were on Thursday, Physics and Biology, screwed up both as usual. Weather sucked too. Rained so heavily that water was coming in from the gallery above. Can't imagine the state of the seats there lol. Went out with the majority of the class to celebrate Yu's belated birthday as well as to buy her present. First of all, we went to watch Fearless. The show was okay i guess, decent amount of violence and gore(^^) but the ending was sad. Went looking for Yu's present after that since we decided to let her choose it herself. From City Chain to Fossil to Swatch(yes, she wanted a watch if u haven already noticed), she finally saw this watch at Swatch which cost $73.00 (thank heavens, finally..), so we all chipped in and got it for her. Aren't we nice? (: After that, we went to Chinatown to eat dinner as it was like only 8pm and it wasn't really as fun as usual i guess. Everyone didn't seem eager to eat and instead the mood was kinda rushed, like they can't wait to go home.

P.S. i finally bought my tortillions

Had class gathering on Friday at Yong Tao's house again. Basically the same things, except with more food, more goodies, more karoke and more fun. Oh! And Adrian( aka Mr Koh) was there too and it was really cool being able to treat your teacher like a normal pal. Drank quite alot of wine too but didn't really get drunk -rawr- Left his place pretty late, nearly 12. Had a little discussion about how to ensure the remaining ladies got home safely, but we settled everything i guess though Esther had a creepy experience. Lol well, luckily she wasn't drunk. Finally reached home but didn't sleep right away though. Used computer all the way till about 2am.

I did something stupid.

Round 1: Aftermath.

General Paper and Mathematics paper constitutes Round 1.. and well.. All I've gotta say is that it isn't good..Uh uh, not at all. Question which i did for General Paper : "Globalisation is a double-edged sword. Discuss.". Okay okay, this question isn't exactly the hardest question in the world, but considering that i know nuts about globalisation, it's still pretty tough after all.

Had a 1hr break in between papers. Spent that 1hr rushing more math formulae and stuff. Math paper.. 5 questions. Qns 1 was a teaser, and so was 2, though i wasn't sure i got question 2 right. 3, 4 and 5 was simply screwed up, forgot my differentiation, couldn't do the 3rd and 4th derivatives for 3, unsure bout the graphs for 4, and completely forgot how to do integration for 5. Whee, somebody gonna get a hurt real bad.

Anyways, Round 2 tomorrow. Chemistry SPA skill B. Qualitative Analysis. Gonna go prepare for it. Tata~

A Test Of Memory Capacity?

Exams exams exams, what do they do? What's their purpose? Perhaps it is to stretch and challenge our memory capacity. Indeed, it does seem that way. General Paper and Mathematics papers are tomorrow and all I've been trying to do all night is to remember facts and formulae. WAIT! Before you people start saying stuff like "Its all your fault, you should have started earlier.", maybe I should first state that these very formulae trying to implant in my head are supposed to be give during the exam! On the Formula list! Well maybe not all, but whatever little help is still help isn't it?

But Noooooo, the Mathematics department just have to make our lives less pleasant by refusing to provide us with the Formula List, making weak claims like how it's better to memorise the formulas and whatnots. Well, what the hell for? At the end of the day during the A's, we'll still be provided with the list, so what's the point in making us memorise it now and let all that brain space go to waste? Better understanding through mutual interaction eh?

Well, formula list or not, I'm pretty much screwed. This Mathematics thing isn't exactly my cup of tea, but well, Mathematics' compulsory for the Science course, so i supposed we can't have the best of both worlds. I'll just sit through it with what little knowledge I got and hopefully scrap a pass? What sucks is we can only get our grades through our parents. Sigh. Oh well, bed.

Simplicity

Finally with the weekends here, there is time now to reflect on the past week's happenings as well as to do a proper update. Changed my long overdue blogskin and opted for something more simple. No fancy bling blings and script-things clogging up everything.

While editing this new skin, it suddenly hit home to me how simple everything in life actually is, yet we choose to complicate them. Taking for example, our blogs, it comes with a simple and neat default blogskin, yet we see the need to create new, flashier and definitely more complicating skins for the sake of "brightening" up our blogs. Of course, that much is necessary so that each blog has its own identity but suddenly there's all those other scripts which add trinkets and various bling blings to our blog and suddenly it seems it is more to impress visitors than for us to pen down our thoughts. This i realised, after comparing my current skin and the previous one.

Of course, life does not revolve around blogs and their skins, it is much more, but still as simple. Our nowaday lives are so full of activities and 24 hours is barely enough for us. Back then, the kampong people have always craved the lives we lead now. And now, we do wish that life was as simple as back then. Indeed, it is true that the grass does seem greener on the other side.

Well, exams existed back then, and they still do now. And they still suck as much. -Rawr-

Cant tell you, you're not a monk.

Read it carefully. ..

A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night? the monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say,

We can't tell you. You're not a monk.

The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way.

Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery. The monks again accept him, feed him, even fix his car. That night, he hears the same strange noise that he had heard years earlier. The next morning, he asks what it is, but the monks reply, We can't tell you. You're not a monk.

The man says, All right, all right. I'm dying to know. If the only way I can find out what that sound was is to become a monk, how do I become a monk? The monks reply, You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk.

The man sets about his task. Some forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of the monastery. He says, I have traveled the earth and have found what you have asked for.

There are 145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth. The monks reply, Congratulations. You are now a monk. We shall now show you the way to the sound. The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, The sound is right behind that door. The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He says, Real funny.

May I have the key? The monks give him the key, and he opens the door.

Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone. The man demands the key to the stone door.

The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. He demands another key from the monks, who provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire.

So it went until the man had gone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz, and amethyst.

Finally, the monks say, This is the last key to the last door. The man is relieved to no end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is amazed to find the source of that strange sound. . . . .

But I can't tell you what it is because you're not a monk.

De-Toxifying Juice

Haven posted for a loooooong while. Been busy. Found some recipe for this juice which is supposedly very healthy?

Ingredients:
1 pc Japanese cucumber
4 pcs asparagus
1 pc carrot
3 pcs celery
1 pc beet root (available at Cold Storage)
1 coriander (available at Cold Storage)
3 stalks of spinach

Method:
1. Wash all the vegetables and cut into cubes
2. Blend it using a blender and add some water to it (the trick to make the drink tastier is to add something sweeter like cranberry juice, orange juice, apple juice etc...it will help bring down the vegetable taste)

Take on a daily basis.
