Much Brain Things Going On

Loads of stuff happened recently, bad or otherwise.

First off, today's TEC camp 2006. Took 1A06 along with my facilitator buddies Travis, Jonathan(AKA Bok) and Jackie. The camp itself was waaaaay better than mine last year, perhaps its because there was more planning put into place. Anyways, 1A06 was pretty enthu i guess, most of the people participated actively in the activities and cheers, so no problems with them. Gosh, realised that Travis is really a born leader, pretty much took charge of everything from the beginning. Wish I could be as outspoken as he is, but i guess... There's still TEC tomorrow, for the 2nd half of the JC1s, taking 1A01 tomorrow with facilitator buddies Travis and Jonathan again, Jackie's gone to take care of 1A02.

Another thing which happened this week was of course, the change of G.P teacher. It's been pretty much finalized that our new G.P teacher is Mr Alvin Pang. Oh I'm not saying that he is all THAT bad, but I guess he just can't -click- with the class. Virtually everyone dislikes him. Why? Well, i guess we've all heard stories about him which leaves a somewhat bad taste in the mouth, AND furthermore, he is the replacement for our previous teacher Mr Adrian Koh, which everyone loved, but due to his "inability to teach" as a new teacher(Bullshit!), the school simply replaced him, without consulting us(the students), Mr Ang(the civics tutor) for our opinions . Gosh, what f**king logic is that? F**king school adminstration totally treats our opinions as nothing. Scum.

3rd thing. Change in timetable from next week onwards and guess what? The school's timetable board decided that 2s01 doesn't ALREADY have enough lessons on their schedule and decided to throw in a couple more. So now we've got school ending @ 5.30pm on 3 days and school ending 1hour late on our CCA day. Sheesh, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the additional work or lessons, if looking on the bright side, we get extra revision and more interaction time with the class and tutors. But what irks me is the sheer brainlessness of the act. For crying out loud, our previous timetable was already one of the longest timetables in the school WHICH is already the school with some of the latest timetables around the Junior Colleges in Singapore, and now they ADD even more time onto it? Ok wait! Before we go onto the "but its your choice to take 4 A's" nonsense, maybe we should first know that virtually ALL the other JC's has much desirable timetables, even for those taking 4 A's. Well, thats my opinion, and my class agrees somewhat.

For a direction change, something happened in class which made me feel pretty guilty. Attended Maths tutorial after TEC and that was when we received our new timetable. I guess it pretty much killed the mood for work as we were all er.. rather displeased, not to mention that the weather was pretty sucky. And we showed our displeasure, to the extent that Mr Ang got somewhat angry(yes, you can sense it). My point here is that I just feel bad for doing that as after all, it wasn't his fault that we get the bad shit all the time. In fact, he's pretty much always there for us, helping us. I guess we just channeled all that anger and displeasure with the school adminstration and weather and whatnots the wrong way. Sorry Mr Ang!

Okay, said my bit, gotta get back to work.

Change

Horrible first day of school. Started with horrible bad news. Apparently, SOMEBODY feels that our class should not be taught by a "newbie" G.P teacher, and ignoring the fact that our class absolutely love our current teacher and that our opinions was totally cast out of the window, and simply switched our G.P teacher away. Not that our class minds the new teacher(okay actually we do ALOT), but the point is that its already some time into the year and we gotta adjust to a new teacher with their new teaching methods? Furthermore, the straw that broke the camel's back is that the adminstration simply went behind our backs. HELLO? Its our education at stake, how come OUR opinions weren't even consulted.

Besides, the reasons given were nonsense. What proof is there that a -newbie- teacher cannot teach a class as well as an -experienced- one? There's so many other factors deciding the performance of a class in any subject that I don't even want to begin listing them. Besides, for language-based subjects such as G.P, its not possible that simply changing the teacher would result in a boost in results overnight, so whats the point? Especially when changing for a teacher we like to someone that erm.. lets just say not exactly popular in class.

Oh hell w/e. Change is inevitable. except maybe from drink machines.

TEC Facilitator Workshop

Had facilitator workshop for TEC today. Went to school pretty early, like about 7.15 am when the meeting was supposed to start at 8 -.- Stoned about in school until saw Jackie and Cindia, then basically hung out with them till the meeting started. Cindia did some weird stuff which I wouldn't say, but i think its probably due to waking up too early or something, therefore brain not working right LOL

Had the verbal briefing for facilitator skills(....?) which seemed pointless in my own opinion, followed by some adminstrative stuffs. All of us were then divided into 5 groups to go through the Hands-On session and i can say i love my group alot. There were only 3 guys though, so we pretty much got bullied throughout, but I bullied our group I.C pretty badly as well too. Haha. Fair's fair! =X The entire session finished at like 1.30pm and i had 2 cuts on my left foot because of some game played involving aluminium foil >.>"

Was pretty bored so went out to Bugis to just do aimless shopping. Met Phoebe and Edwin BY CHANCE and hung out wif them instead. Didn't really do much, just kept circling round and round and round. LOLx. Now my injured foot is really sore. F**k.

Red

My face is RED, RED, RED! Played basketball for like 4 days consecutively these holidays in the afternoon each time, and now my face is sunburnt quite badly (think steamed chilli crab). Went to school to play ball again today till about 3? Went home to shower and change clothes and came down to school again to meet Justine.

We were meeting to go to the Arts House to purchase tickets for the Singapore Ga-Ga Movie. Colin and Raymond came too at the last moment as they might be watching Date Movie, but we didn't watch it in the end. Took awhile to found the elusive Arts House as none of us could remember exactly where it was, but we still managed to find it after running around for a bit Haha.

Went to eat dinner after that at Carls' Junior. Omigosh, the burgers are huuuuuuge and so filling :D And there's free flow of drinks too!! Spent about 45 minutes eating and talking. It was already 8pm by then so they decided NOT to watch the movie after all. Took train back. Nothing much happened i guess. Haha.

Misfortune

I should have known today was gonna be terrible. First thing in the morning, had to wake up early to prepare for school, gotta reach there early as the bus was leaving at 7.15am to ACJC for the Science Research Symposium 2006. Reached school at 7.12am and everyone was already there, luckily the teachers didnt really make a big hoo-haa out of it.

The symposium was basically a waste of time, well, mine anyhow. Firstly, the opening address by A*STAR is virtually one of the most boring things one can ever sit through. I mean, who the hell wants to hear about achievements and whatnots, for 1 hour too. RAH! I fell asleep and woke up only in the middle of the Genetics presentation and as a result, couldn't really make head or tail what the professor was talking. AND he spoke so softly, as if the microphone was gonna eat him or something if he stood too close.

The following Pharmaceuticals wasn't any better. Yes, the professor presenting tried to inject humour, but it was all pretty dry. I fell asleep for that presentation too LOL. Last presentation was on Semiconductors and Lasers, and it wasnt that bad... for the first few slides. Towards the last 45 minutes of the presentation, the professor was simply spewing out terms which sounded Greek. Even our teachers in charge seemed stumped and although no one fell asleep, everyone was doing anything but listening. Haha.

After the event, went back to school and played b-ball again :P Kinda fell in love with it. Played for a span of 3 hours with breaks in between. Left school @ around 5pm and HOHO, who should i meet but Wenshan. The only perk of the day i guess, since I got a couple of laughs chatting with her, but i think she's gonna kill me.

Reached home and realised that my keys were missing. F**K! So much for being careful -_-

NUS Open House

Went to the NUS open house today. Met Raymond, Tine and Colin @ Kovan Mcdonald's at 9am for breakfast (Tine's late again as usual). After breakfast, YT's mom gave us a lift to NUS and it was really corny as we had to squeeze 4 of us into the backrow, and me and Raymond aint no pixies.

Haha, so when we finally reached NUS, everyone was kinda aching all over but it was a new experience i guess. LOL. Anyways, the NUS openhouse was really fun, received tons and tons of brochures, played around with balloons, listened to talks and tour around the campus for practically the afternoon. Also met loads of smart people, like Jesmine, Phoebe etc. Alot of my class people were there too.

After leaving the place, we took 151 back to Hougang, 1hour trip direct :S Wenshan, Tine's friend, also tagged along. Halfway along the trip, Tingz suddenly had the crazy idea of wanting to go Harborfront to buy her printer. So we alighted at her place( me, Tine, Tingz and Wenshan) while Colin and Raymond went home. Took train to Harborfront and it was already 8.30pm. Yikes!

Went to this electronic hyperstore at Harborfront centre to look for her stuff and she took SOOOOOOO long deciding whether to buy that printer(she bought it in the end) and then later on another LOOOOOOOOOOONG period to choose a mp3 player. And there was poor me lugging that printer around for her, being that gentleman I am. Kekeke~!

After making her purchases, went to Food Junction to take dinner(er.. supper?) and the girls took so long with food!! i could imagine the cleaners chasing us out with the brooms, but fortunately they didn't. Haha. Went they finally did finish, the mall was sooooo empty by then. Took the loooong mrt ride back to Kovan, where Justine and Tingz lugged the printer off home, then alighted at Hougang with Wenshan and took 87. Teased her practically all the way back but i did accompany her back to her block, so i guess its quits :P AND she owes me 6 treats now! Wahaha!

Dreary and Draggy

Gosh, today's been a totally horrible day! Practically slept in ALL the lectures conducted as i had this nasty headache plaguing me all day. Biology lecture was funny as from what i heard from Olivia, the first row of people(that means my class) were all snoozing away merrily. And to tell the truth, i throughly enjoyed my "nap" during Biology hehe. Hmm, seems to me that whenever i sleep early( as in 10pm or so), i wake up the next day feeliing even sleepier and horrible then when i sleep at 12am LOL. Damn, my inner clock's so totally screwed up man. Hey, I'm not complaining of course, since i do get pleasant dreams about HER. =P

Got back marks for Chemistry re-test today, only a measly C grade. Lol, what kinda state am I in man? Can't even score a decent grade for a RETEST. The rest of my class who took it all got "godly" grades like >80%. RAH! How humiliating. =X

Anyways, the holidays are just around the corner again Yay! Can't wait for them to start, then i can finally catch up on all my backlogged homework. Sheesh, there's so much that I'm not confident of finishing them.

Yikes.

The Last Song

The All American Rejects - The Last Song

This may be the last thing that I write for long
Can you hear me smiling when I sing this song, for you, and only you

As I leave will you be someone to say good-bye?
As I leave will you be someone to wipe your eye?
My foot is out the door, and you can't stop me now

You wanted the best, it wasn't me
Will you give it back, and I'll take the lead
When there's no more room to make it grow
I'll see you again, you'll pretend you're naive
Is this what you want
Is this what you need
How you end up let me know.

As I go, remember all the simple things you know,
My mind is just a crutch and I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song

The hearts start breaking as the year is gone
The dream's beginning and the time rolls on
It seems so surreal, now I sing it.
Somehow I knew that it would be this way,
Somehow I knew that it would slowly fade.
Now I am gone, just try and stop me, now.

You wanted the best, but it wasn't me
Will you give it back, now i'll take the lead
When there's no more room to make it grow
I'll see you again, you'll pretend you're naive
Is this what you want
Is this what you need
How you end up let me know.

As I go, remember all the simple things you know,
My mind is just a crutch and I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song

Will you need me now ?
You'll find a way somehow
You want it too
I want it too
As I go, remember all the simple things you know,
My mind is just a crutch and I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song

As I go, remember all the simple things you know,
My mind is just a crutch and I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song
_______________________________________

Been really hooked onto this song lately, dunno why though. Anyways, wanted to share it with everyone, so I'm gonna play it here for abit.

The Chem test and GP test today wasn't all that bad i supposed, but I'm not gonna place high hopes on an A(or A1) just yet. I guess the recent common test 1 has jolted everyone back to reality, S1 is really motivated now and i hope everyone in S1 will excel!! Lets dominate the top achievers list ppl! =D

Been talking to Mel about the 2 guys who commited suicide only recently. Apparently she knows both of them, and is pretty disturbed by their deaths. Just hope that she doesn't let it affect her studies and stuff.

In my opinion, suicide is the last thing anyone should ever contemplate. Whenever one occurs, EVERYONE, from family members to accquaintances to strangers even are affected badly, not to mention the mental scarring it could leave behind on them. Lets just pray that the 2 students have finally been liberated from the sufferings they sought to be relieved off.

How to survive a heart attack when alone.

Received this in an email from Aarti and thought it was something interesting to blog about about. Anyways, here's it..

>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Let's say it's 6.15p m and you're going home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated.

Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to adiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR but the guy that taught the course apparently did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

Situation:
Many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

To do:
Cough repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Rationale:
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Verdict: This is really useful indeed, you'll never know when a heart attack will strike. Better be safe than sorry. In my opinion, everyone should really know this.

Explanation

Okay, apparently, my posts awhile back has incurred the wrath of some people. Just wanna clear things up here. Firstly, I was just mentioning what my friend said to me, perhaps that I did not put it across properly, but I did not criticise SRJC, Why should I? I love it here. The environment here, the teachers, the notes(okay ignore the occasional bugs) and the tutorials are all great in my opinion. In fact, I'm surprised that SRJC isn't "up there" with the titans with so much "pluses" towards studying here. Yea, so please don't get me wrong, i really really really love this school as it's where i met the people who motivated me, the people who changed me for the better with their direct straightforward comments ( Thank you Esther! ). No, I'm not trying to be sarcastic here. I got my life back on track HERE, at SRJC, and I'm thankful for that.

Anyways, I admit that the comment about being top 50 is too easy might be a little too degrading, but i did point that out as well, and did not intend it to be degrading at all. Hope that you readers do not get offended by my blunt comment. The whole point about the post was about my personal disappointment towards my own results as I have a very high personal standard for myself. No intended negative comments against SRJC or whatnots, please do not misunderstand. Pardon my bluntness.

Mr Ang, my math tutor, said that SRJC is a caring college as she accepts all students so long as they meet the requirement of at least 20 points. And i agree to that whole-heartedly. Well, I've felt the care.

P.S @anon, please do put your name next time(if there is), i appreciate all comments, nice or otherwise.

Chinese AO

Got back the results for Chinese AO today. Didn't really expect much from it, and i was right. Got a measly B4 for it. But I'm cool with it, so long as I didn't fail.. However, can't really say I'm in high spirits at the moment. Of course, who wouldn't want to get an A for any exam despite whether they really mind it or not. To tell the truth, i was hoping for a B3, perhaps that explains the tad of disappointment I'm feeling now. O well, gonna go study up Physics SPA for tomorrow.

ever on the lookout for a glimpse of HER to light up my day...
